World of Cypheria - Estaldo's Story

This is a story that is part of an ongoing world building/storytelling effort. There are many stories going on, building a plot from the perspectives of several different characters in different countries in the World of Cypheria. I plan to publish several interrelated parts of the story here, if the response is favorable!

Empress Isadora bin Istaldia Kormani Valmina: 46, Supreme law of the land, strong    ruler, allows little power out of her hands, known to be beautiful but rarely seen by any but the highest nobles.  Owns multitudes of slaves, and is served by only those born and bred for Imperial service.
Princess Yasmina: 30, heir apparent. Little is known
Princess Terindra: 26, Little is known
Princess Nadora: 22, Little is known
Lady Tuscine: Ally by concubine to Princess Yasmina.
Tofellin: Lady in waiting to the princess Nadora.
Sepha: royal seamstress
Bransford: escaped Imperial concubine, aka Teldrine, a pirate captain.
Merchant Stollerin: notorious for river palace summer parties. Kahlzistani silk importer.
Ophelia: Ambassador to Kahlzistan
Tessia: Eldest daughter of Ophelia, proposed wife for Estaldo of Kahlzistan.
Lobella: youngest daughter of Ophelia

King  Kahl’terres: 37, King since he was 17. Strong king, very adept at court intrigue.
Queen Cindarla: died in childbirth, originally from Arbigahl, 2nd daughter of one of the border duchies.
Prince Estaldo: 20, Master swordsman and horseman, well educated and familiar with the workings of court.  Known as generally honorable, and intelligent, but impatient, unwilling to sit through the stultifying meetings that make the government work.
Seneschal Renaldo: In service to the family since birth, 40 years old, tends to be supercillious, but holds the castle firmly in hand.  Courted by many as having the king’s ear.
Caitlin: cook, lifetime family retainer at Khultara Castle
Alsvider: Estaldo’s horse
Cerix: Estaldo’s long time personal attendent, deep cover Ozmarocan spy.
Mansel: Estaldo’s long time personal attendent
Patrick Benliman: Estaldo’s companion since boyhood. Ophan in custody of king. Expected to become seneschal somedy.
Seneea: Female servant
Merchant Stollerin: silk importer, contracts with Arbigahl.
Reid Bruton: maresium importer.
Joanne Bruton: daughter of Reid Bruton.
Nonus: Patrick’s horse
Adelaide: woman who raises and sells flowers just outside of Khultara.
Orrin: captain of the King’s Personal Guard.

Characters in Marapal

King Benedo von Taremfel: 52, a kindly man, devoted to his family and his kingdom, beloved by all.  An astute business man and manager, he has brought profit to his land by increasing the production and sales of maresium, while employing many people and using local supplies whenever possible.
Queen Karinya: 48, a handsome woman, a good complement to her husband.  Known as a fair judge, she handles most of the disputes brought to the royal family for resolution.  Daughter of a noble family from Kahlzistan, she has little contact with her birth family, but is not known to be on bad terms with anybody.
Princess Sotya: 30, married to a local Duke, with 3 children.  Bids fair to follow in her Mother’s footsteps, as a fair woman devoted to her family and her people.
Princess Mirinda: 19, known as a tomboy, she is good natured and a favorite of the people.  She frequently attends her mother’s court and accompanies her father on inspection tours of the mines and farms.
Prince Byock: 28, active and handsome, he is known to disappear into the woods for extended periods of time on hunts and explorations.  It is rumored that he has traveled into the northlands and spent time with the reclusive trappers and woodsmen that are known to live there, although he never speaks of it.  He is devoted to his sister Mirinda.
Prince Girald: 25, more interested in the ladies and a game of dice than his princely duties, his parents look on him with fond despair.  He hasn’t been in serious trouble yet, but that is probably more due to the love of the people for his parents than to any restraint on his part.
Prince Petrane: 17, a studious book worm, he can ride and use his sword, but only because his teachers refused to let him read until he finished his other lessons.  He is fascinated with history and tales of foreign lands.
Elsie:  Faithful retainer, nurse.
Geron the Great: Historic Duke of Marapal, at founding of kingdom.
Baron Arverodd: Maresium miner with daughter
Katreen Arverodd: marriageable daughter of Baron Arverodd.
Duchess of Azistahn: potential bride of Byock, to become queen.
Duke Koyok: Minister of Trade to Kahlzistan.

King Gohlmon: 45, king since he was 22, strong ruler, intelligent and ambitious, but unimaginative.
Queen Jamarra: 25, daughter of a local baron, weak and retiring, beautiful.
Princess Zabel: 18, daughter of the King’s first wife, strong willed, intelligent, frequently rides with the border guard.  Beautiful, known to be unwelcoming to anybody trying to court her.  Known to be her father’s pride.
Councilor Mydrich: Councilor to the king for 10 years, background unknown.
