What is a Catalyst you say?
A Catalyst can, after mating with one who wields the Arcane Arts, be a channel for the skills of that Arcanist. The catch is only an Arcanist can utilize her power. As a result, Catalysts end up as slaves to powerful magical warlords.
Throw in a cursed succubus, and The Demon Goddess of Dark Song, and you have an interesting serial tale.
